He came out against neoliberalism, economic colonialism, corporate greed and suchlike in his circa 2001 book Globalisation and its Discontents, which slates the IMF and other institutions of corporate globalisation and western global economic dominance. He doesn’t propose a non-capitalist economic order as a solution to the problems he identifies, but staying within the paradigm of a market economy offers an intelligent critique of corporate globalisation and the resulting problems faced by developing countries. His experience and knowledge and insights as an economist (who has worked both within the academic and real worlds) lend weight to his arguments.
