My uncle was going to throw this GPS away. In 2006, this GPS retailed for 399.99. Now you can probably get it for less than $40 on ebay. Missed Programs On Itv Player. Heck, you might be able to get it for cheaper on craigslist. Regardless, the GPS was pretty good back in it's day. The biggest issue were the maps were outdated.
Hp Regulatory Model Fclsd 0508 Manual Woodworkers more. That was the main reason why my uncle was throwing it away. Obviously, he didn't feel that it was worthwhile to pay $49.99 for an update dvd (or maybe it's 39.99 for online update). Luckily, I learned of a cheaper/easier way of updating the maps.
Your Garmin c550 StreetPilot GPS device comes with a set of pre-installed maps. Occasionally, road layouts change, so eventually you'll need to download new maps from.
I found out that if you purchase Nuvi Maps DVD for previous years, when you try to update your GPS with these older update dvd's, it's actually possible to download the current maps instead and update with the most current maps. I did this with the 2011 garmin nuvi dvd for the low clearance price of 17.99 from Best Buy.
This GPS is pretty good, but bulky. What I really wanted was the Bluetooth speaker on this unit. They had bluetooth in 2006. This thing will pair with pretty much any phone out their. Well it easily paired with a mytouch 4g, pantech burst, iphone 3g, and iphone 4.
Safety first. Secondly, this GPS can grab satellite info pretty quick.
Like within 35 sec. Boot up time is about half a minute. Third, directions can be calculated pretty quickly too (in less than 15 seconds).
They may not be the best directions, but they often match up with google maps. Another nice thing about this GPS is that it's so old. I don't think anyone would want to steal it.
Battery on this GPS only lasts about 1 hour now. It used to last an amazing 8 hours when it was new. These GPS's take the standard nuMaps update. Just google 'Garmin - nuMaps Onetime City Navigator North America NT 2012 DVD' If you can find older unopened versions of this. And have a fast internet connection, then you can update your maps for much cheaper than $40-50.
