For those unfamiliar with, a quick introduction is necessary. The New York-based band is equal parts Alkaline Trio, Smoking Popes and The Smiths with dashes of Weezer and Panic! At the Disco thrown in for good measure.

The band was one of the first to set up a MySpace page and have become somewhat of a cult on the popular website. On Halloween 2005, while touring, the band was involved in an auto accident that took the life of drummer John 'Beatz' Holohan and severely injured bassist Nick Ghanbarian. The album, rather than being a solemn and reflective collection of emo songs that recounts the band's past tragedy, is an almost upbeat collection of irreverent lyrics and words that celebrate the life the band has ahead. The sentiment can best be felt in the song 'Duality'. Raneri sings with a disaffected wail, 'Some say it's all fate, but I say we control our lives.

The band got its name when on their way to a show on, with the intention of giving New Found Glory a demo CD, and they were trying to think of a name to write on the CD. They passed the, and decided to write 'Bayside' on the CD simply as a name for New Found Glory, but the name became permanent.
